Dec. 13th, 2003 04:14 pmA bit late, but adding my 2 cents about Bruce to the pile...
I don't mind paying for the convenience of having footage on dvds. I do mind paying $10 for that convience when the footage can be easily & readily obtainable free of charge by downloading it from someone. When that footage is not so easy to get, I don't mind paying for it.
If he really is a fan first, then why does everybody else who's a fan freely offer footage for download, or will dub & copy things they have for nothing more than the cost of a shipping & blank media?
When I was trying to find the rare footage I couldn't figure out how to get anywhere else, $10 was a bargain I was readily willing to pay to Bruce to have him send me all this wonderful rare footage. Though, I don't think I ever bought stuff from him unless he was doing a sale of some sort.
I'm rambling & repeating myself, but when it comes right down to it, the issue I have is him charging so much for stuff he had freely given to him. If all he was charging was shipping, the cost of a blank disc, and *maybe* a dollar for his time spent copying, I might have a different opinion about it. But when he can't even be bothered to slap a damn label on them? Or put it in a decent case?
::sigh::

Date: 2003-12-13 05:12 pm (UTC)he's remastered them so they sound considerably better
huh. I know they got cleaned up once from the original I heard. So, he's cleaned 'em up some more? Maybe I'll have to go take a look. I must say, that adds points for him in my book.
most of what he offers he's either taped himself or bought from fans, both privately and on ebay
And that, I have absolutely no problem paying him for. I suppose I didn't realize that so much of what he's offering is stuff he paid for.
