Here I was, all proud of myself that I had all of my Christmas shopping done. All of the presents wrapped, under the tree, and all ready to go.
Then I remembered that I hadn't yet got anything for my Grandma. Or our longtime family friend who I just found out will not only be joining us for Christmas day (which I already knew about) but will be joining us for present unwrapping...
I like her, truly I do. But she's *very* extroverted, and she has this notsolittle tendancy to really dominate conversation.
So I get to go do more shopping tomorrow. All I need is 3 or 4 things at two different stores. 2 or 3 pairs of the really good warm socks for grandma, and a gift certificate to a bookstore for the family friend.
I feel insanely guilty for not looking forward to having said family friend join us for present unwrapping. She's my mom's best friend, she's known our family for 20+ years, and she has nowhere to go on Christmas.
We're delaying our gathering & present unwrapping until such time as family friend is done with Mass and can join us.
I just want a nice *quiet* present unwrapping and family gettogether. I don't mind at all if family friend joins the family for brunch/lunch on Christmas day... but I'm a bit bummed that the present opening bit will not be a nice quiet gathering of family only...
And I feel SOOOO guilty for feeling that way too.
