My first poll!
Sep. 12th, 2003 07:45 amI was rewatching the Pleasure Island showcase last night, when something just hit me (metaphorically, not literally). At that time, Justin was 14 and a half years old. The times I heard Justin singing solo parts, it almost sounded like he was singing in a much lower register than he does now. So, what do y'all think?
And, let it be said, I *like* Justin. I like him a lot, even as a solo artist. My personal opinion however, is that his voice can get a bit on the thin & nasally side and he sounds better when he's singing with the rest of *nsync.

Date: 2003-09-12 08:02 am (UTC)I have the Pleasure Island DVD as well, and I too have noticed that he in definitely in a lower range. And I really like it. *grin* I think you can also hear him using this voice in the later MMC performances. He sounds good. =)
I think his voice was thin and nasally, especially during the NSA era, but over time (Celebrity and Justified) I think that his voice got stronger and less nasally. It's still there. Just a little bit.

Ooohh! Hopefully some of those performances'll be on the dvd I ordered from nsyncland. :)
I agree, I think his voice is getting less thin & nasally. Hopefully, it'll continue to improve! I really like the lower register, too. I think he sounds so much better singing in that range than when he's in the upper end of his range.

Date: 2003-09-12 06:07 pm (UTC)Hmm. If it's the MMC marathon, it might not be on there. The closest I'd say would be "Cry for You", but the performances I'm thinking of are along the lines of "Always in My Heart" or "That's the Way Love Is". I mean, he's still like 13 or 14 so the tone of his voice is a little higher (good ol' puberty!), but it's still the lower register. If it's not on that DVD, I have audio if you wanna hear. :)
