Jul. 8th, 2003 07:12 amFoG in headphones. Wow!
I was gonna post lyrics, cause I remember seeing them last night at JJB, but evidently with the whole BT lawyer scare, whoever posted them took them down. I'm really not impressed with this whole thing. In this day & age, songs will get leaked. It's just the way they work now.
Taking such a heavy handed attitude towards the whole thing is not making me more likely to buy the album. In fact, I'm half inclined to 'not encourage' such behavior by the expedient method of not buying the album.
Then again, I've got the song... one I wouldn't have if it hadn't been made available. But, with my finances so tight, I don't know if I want to go buy an album for just 1 song. I kind of like Somnambulist, but techno/trance/whatever is not really my favorite kind of music.
It's a dilemma. I think it'll entirely depend on how much spending money I have to my name when his album comes out.
ETA: If anyone feels inclined to help me understand the other side of this, & where BT's coming from... I'd greatly appreciate it. I read something briefly on the JJB, where a poster said s/he'd read that file-sharing had hurt dance/trance/electronica artists more than others...
Any insight?

Date: 2003-07-08 02:13 pm (UTC)Good point - the anticipation of a much talked about song is probably the only incentive many people have to buy an album that's in that genre. The 'newness' of music in the trance/dance/etc genre seems to be a critial factor.
