I DID IT! :D (completed tryouts that is)
Feb. 12th, 2011 01:52 pmThe Roller Derby tryouts this morning went really really well! :D I had a couple of wobbles in a couple of the 9 skills they tested us on, but for the most part I did really well, and am very proud of myself.
The 9 things they had us do were:
-weaving in & out of cones
-backwards skating
-squatting and stepping sideways
-gliding on one foot
-t-stops (with both feet)
-plow stops
-skating a lap without lifting your feet off the floor
-skating 3 laps with good derby form & crossovers
-endurance skating - as many laps as you can in 2 minutes
I wobbled a little in the stepping sideways & the skating backwards. And I didn't get the opposite foot with the t-stop. But I think I did good enough to make the training team (aka 'fresh meat', officially called "Bloomin Doom").
But I have to wait until the end of next weekend before I'll know whether or not I made the team.
In other news, I hope Adam Lambert has a great time at the Grammys!

Date: 2011-02-13 05:41 pm (UTC)The hard part will be in the fall when the Draft opens up. That's where the Bloomin Doom folks get pulled to be on a regular team... each of the three teams is limited to 20 people, so only a few from the training team will actually get onto a regular team.
