My head cold turned a corner yesterday! Last night I started to feel like something other than fuzzy-brained death-warmed-over. And I woke up today feeling pretty good, I was even able to stop taking the decongestant!

I'm still a *little* sniffly, and needing to blow my nose... I'm trying to decide if I should go to ASL class. The class is close quarters (squeezed around the dining room table of our teacher), and I'd feel REALLY bad if I got anyone else sick.

My head cold has been impacting my hearing (which isn't that great to begin with), so that's been a struggle.

Exactly 2 weeks from today I get a day off, and MrB & I are going up to Portland to talk to someone about me getting hearing aids. I'm really looking forward to it, and I think they'll help a lot. I'd struggle a lot less in life if I could just get people's voices to be louder than all the other noises. My brain is bad at saying "that's noise, ignore it" and "that's someone talking, only listen to that", so with hearing aids that can say "that's noise, reduce that", "that's talking amplify that"... then I'll do a LOT better!

If MrB didn't have midterms, I would've already called about moving up my appointment. Though the wait has been good. I've been able to talk with him about why I think this is necessary, and how I think this will help me (& us in our communication).

My half-sister is VERY depressed right now. I've been depressed, but never as bad (or for as long) as she has (she's Bipolar II). It's difficult to know what to say in my emails to her, so I mainly just babble about what I'm up to in my life.

I don't email her as often as I'd like... she emails me, I reply back the same day... she's depressed so she doesn't have the energy to respond to my email... I never get a reply so I don't have anything to respond to & I don't think of emailing her out of the blue.

TV shows!!
DTWS - I still LOVE this show. Kind of disappointed at the fan voting that kept Kurt and sent Audrina home. I'm BEYOND happy that Jennifer is still in it - with her partnered up with Derek, I can easily see them making it to the finals if they get their consistency back.

Blue Bloods - I really like this show. It's a good mix of cop show & family drama, and I really enjoy it. :D

Undercovers - I've given up on this one. The whining dynamic I just don't like. There's yet to be a reason given for *why* this retired couple is going out and doing all these gigs. The storyline/plot leaves a LOT to be desired, at least for me.

Skating With The Stars??? I'm not sure how I feel about this. It could be good... it could be bad. I'll give it a shot of course. I wonder which 'stars' are going to be the guinea pigs for this?

yay for feeling better!

if writing your sister is something you want to do but forget, maybe schedule it in your calendar every 10 days or so? i know when i've had dark spells it does help a LOT to get emails out fo the blue from loved ones.

Here via a random wander across Dreamwidth, hoping that's okay.

FWIW, as someone who has been both sender and receiver of these sorts of e-mails -- what works for me is:

a) making it clear you don't need a reply and you understand she might not be up to it, so she doesn't feel pressured to respond (I know she's not responding, but she may be feeling that she ought to anyway).

b) sending random entertaining stuff. It doesn't have to be big epic e-mails, it can be the sort of stuff you might post on your DW: "Hey, if you need a distraction, here's this entertaining YouTube vid" kind of thing. It just lets her know that you're there and thinking of her, and maybe it gives her 5 minutes' break from her brain.
