:)
At my ASL class last Thursday (9/23) I had several Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) issues hearing my fellow student & our teacher. Luckily it was ASL class so we just reverted to all sign instead of sign then talk then sign.
I must've found it quite frustrating as the next morning I woke up remembering an interesting dream where I was getting fitted for hearing aids that were going to help my APD.
I called my audiologist to see if this was a possiblity (or what other options might be available to me)... and she said that for children with APD they recommend FM systems (which I already disounted as too bulky & awkward for me to want to use)... but for adults with APD she's had a lot of success fitting them with regular hearing aids, just set to a low-gain! :D
I have an appointment to go see her on Thurs. Nov 11th. I'm VERY excited!!! I really hope they help, as it would be SOOO nice not to have to struggle so hard so often to hear & understand people. It would also be very nice to have help not talking so loud, MrB is always having to remind me I'm talking too loudly.
Also, it's Friday, and after 24+ hours of being out, we finally have our cable internet back!!! (some damn truck/tractor/??? driver severed some overhead fiberoptic lines by not having his doohickey in front lowered enough).
