Apr. 26th, 2010 11:03 amSaw my psychiatrist this morning.
After three months of feeling down/tired/exhuasted & not myself (& not sleeping well), especially given my family history I decided it was time to see him.
He asked me if I thought I was depressed, and I said 'maybe'. I'm still not sure. I'm not even close to suicidal by any means, but I'm also not my usual happy bubbly self.
He said that a lot of people find they sleep better once their mood improves, and suggested that one thing he could do was prescribe me an antidepressant. I said sure, because that was kind of why I went to see him. If I didn't want drugs I would've struggled on as I was or called up a psychologist.
So I'm starting on a very low dose of cymbalta. Frankly I hope it helps because it would be really nice to sleep well, have energy & motivation, and feel like myself again. I'm also hoping it'll help with my mild social (& general) anxiety.
Today was day #1, I'm just taking 30mg in the morning with instructions to stay at that dose for 2 weeks. If after 2 weeks I'm noticing nothing, then I'm supposed to increase it to 60.
I'd love more energy/motivation to get sewing stuff done. To pull out my elliptical machine in the evenings after work and exercise more. To be more motivated/focused at work, especially on all the little repetitive projects.
