About a week or so before Christmas, my half-sister sent me a nice card that contained a $30 gift card to GameStop. I quickly decided that I wanted to buy a PS3 game that I had not put on my wishlist (Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion). MrB made noises about how patience was a good thing, and perhaps I'd get a different RPG game for Christmas, and would then regret having Oblivion and want something else instead.
So I waited and did not go out immediately and use my gift card to buy Oblivion.
Well, I didn't get an rpg for Christmas yesterda (or any other game aside from Wii Fit Plus, and that's not exactly a new-to-me game as I have the original Wii Fit).
I wasn't too disappointed, because in addition to the GameStop gift card, I'd also gotten a $30 Best Buy gift card - and I figured that *surely* between those two things I would be able to find & purchase Oblivion today.
I checked BestBuy's website - the only local store did *not* have a copy of Oblivion. I called the two local GameStop locations. They both had copies of Oblivion, but only used copies, no new copies. :(
So I ordered a copy from GameStop (it was unavailable for shipping from BestBuy), and paid $6 to get 3 day shipping.
I'm a little irritated. This whole patience thing did NOT turn out to provide me with any benefits whatsoever. I'm trying to decide if I want to try and go to Hollywood video to rent a copy of Oblivion. I wouldn't be able to spend all weekend playing it though, as I have a family dinner event tonight, and I said I'd go to my sign language practice tomorrow afternoon. But maybe I'll go rent it anyway.
I'm also hungry, and haven't showered yet. Perhaps after I eat & shower, I'll find that sitting down with the last little bit of Zelda will keep me occupied.
Other things I got for Christmas - a sewing machine tote that's WAY too big & grandma will give me cash for while she returns it, a nice pair of pink fleece booties, the aforementioned Wii Fit Plus & gift cards, a nice cardigan sweater that I need to return because the sleeves are too long, and a pair of sewing snips. I think there was something else, but I'm not remembering it.
I'm going to shower, then get lunch, then think about whether I want to go try and rent Oblivion.
