rosebeeMy brother should've gotten into town last night. There may or may not be a family dinner tonight. I haven't heard anything yet about one, but the possibility does exist.
My car is fixed!! YAAAYYY!!! It wasn't the viscous coupler after all - it was some rear bearings, one of which supports the viscous coupler. But the dealer said $1520 to get the viscous coupler & cracked CV boot fixed. There's only *one* local indepedent subaru repairman in town, and he said $750 to fix the 'viscous coupler'. When he found out it was something else, and noticed the CV boot, he fixed the bearings and the cv boot for his original $750 quote to us (a $25 labor discount kept the cost at that level).
I'm just so happy that we only had to pay $750 instead of $1520. Granted, I wish we didn't have to pay the $750 either - it's a lot of money for us. It's coming out of our savings, too. I'm glad we have the money in savings to us, but we still have 2.5 more years of MrB being a full-time student, so the savings has to last a while. At least we should have a decent-sized tax refund coming to us in the next few weeks that will build our savings back up a bit.
And now I have to hit the shower and get to work.
