Getting excited!!!
Sep. 13th, 2009 01:32 pmI can haz vacation!!!! :D
MrB & I leave tomorrow morning for Mt St Helens! We're staying at a B&B near Silver Lake. We'll be there through Friday morning, and then we're going to decide if we want to go stay somewhere else Friday night (Gorge, Portland, ???) or if we're ready to go home.
We're probably going to try to do a helicopter tour, hiking the full length of the Ape Cave (longest continuous lava tube in the contintental US, in terms of passageway length). Of course the place that rents out lanterns near the entrance of the cave only operates on the weekends in September, so we've bought our own lanterns, and bringing LED flashlights as well. Because I'm a paranoid person, I'm also going out to REI today to buy a LED headlamp. :)
Other than those two things, we really don't have any set plans for the trip. I want to go see all the visitor centers (I think there's only two now), and I want to do a driving tour around the volcano.
Spending a day sitting beside a nice lake with a good book sounds heavenly! We did that for part of one day on our honeymoon at Glacier National Park - it was just wonderfully relaxing, and peaceful.

Mort & Maya are going to Auntie's Cat Kennels while we're out of town. No barking dogs to scare them & no extra fees for 'play time'! :D
