Much laziness and relaxing was had. :) Sims 3 playing, book reading. It was good. :)

Saturday I also went for a walk with the hubby... it was raining ALL day Saturday, and our walk was a rather wet one. After we came home and dried off a bit we went to Costco and went shopping. Saturday evening I spent doing the final bit of unstitching the quilting I'd done on the borders of the quilt... it was really really badly bunched and stretched.

Sunday was a little bit laziness in the morning, then I was very brave and went to an ASL practice group. The group is usually more advanced students, the newer students (such as myself) don't usually come. And I have to admit, the practice sentences with all the numbers... of the 10 or 12 sentences, I think I only actually managed to understand 1 of them. But it was good practice to watch someone sign and watch for & recognize the numbers in the sentences. Then after that the group leader/organizer quizzed me and the one other gal that was there on vocab, then it was a game of 'go fish'. They took blank cards (purchased from a learning store) and wrote pairs of words on them. They had a medium-difficulty and a hard deck. I told them I didn't care which deck was used as I'd be fingerspelling everything anyway! The two other gals that were there were nice, and it was good practice.

After the practice group I came told hubby all about it, then we went out for a walk again. And I spent Sunday evening re-doing the quilting on the borders. I wasn't even really super happy with my second attempt, but it was better than the first attempt, and the bunching was MUCH reduced and was much more evenly distributed around the quilt. After the quilt's washed for the first time I doubt it'll be very noticeable to anyone but a quilter. Even hubby (after hearing me cuss & be unhappy with it), came to look and had to ask me to tell him what the big problem was, as he couldn't see it. The quilting was re-done, and I got the binding attached! The other end of the binding has to be hand-stitched to the underside of the quilt. As soon as I get that done, my first quilt will be done!!! :D Maybe I'll get the quilt finished before Thanksgiving. ;)

Yesterday, after a very brief moment of laziness with Sims 3, was mostly a productive day. I caught up on Quicken, and some piles of papers on my desk finally drove me crazy enough to do something about them. So I sorted & tossed & sorted & got a couple shelves that had been gathering papers for 5 years cleared out. I have a bit more space to put stuff now! :)

The rest of yesterday was spent working on Balloon Shades for the living room.

I got the fabric & the blackout lining cut to size (not as easy as it sounds as the window is wider than one width of the fabric). I got the fabric & lining panels sewn together, and then I got them sewn to each other down one side. And I got hubby to cut the mounting board to size, and I figured out where to put the screw eyes and he put them in. Next weekend (or sometime) he'll put the board above the window, so I'll have a place to hang the shades once they're done. I don't have much left to do to finish the shades - attach fabric & lining together on second side, make top hem, hang up to measure length, make bottom hem, measure locations of roman shade tape, and sew on shade tape. It's that very last step of sewing on the shade tape that is going to be the trickiest. At least with this shade I'm not doing any extra gathering, I'm just having fabric the width of the windowsill so I'm hoping that'll make it easier.
I think I still need to go buy more nylon string/rope to use to pull the shades up & down. I'll see if I have any left from my previous shades, but I highly doubt I have enough for all 6 strings I'll be putting onto this shade.

I SOOOO wish every weekend could be a three-day weekend... but without working four 10-hour days. I don't like 10-hour days. I want to work 32 hours, and get paid for 40. ::nods::

Time for me to get started with my day (still need to shower & figure out something to wear). After a cool & wet labor day weekend, it's ironic that today is supposed to be mostly sunny with a high temp of 80!!
