Laziness! Sewing!
Jun. 29th, 2009 06:55 amI had a great weekend. Saturday was spent being lazy with Sims3. It was lots of fun!
Sunday was spent sewing. I'm making good progress on my halter-top dress. Just have the skirt left to attach and then put the zipper in. I think though that this pattern wasn't drafted very well. I noticed that even on the picture on the model (on the front of the envelope), the neckline gapes, and the seam under the bust isn't all the way under the bust like it should be. These are little things that I should've noticed before purchasing the pattern, but did not. So I may have some issues once my dress is finished (it's hard to tell how things fit when it's not all the way done - even though I did a ton of tissue fitting and even tried a couple muslins). Someone else sewed this same dress, and had some similar problems as what I've had so far. Thusly I know it's a poorly-drafted pattern and not me! :D
I've put a subscription to a german pattern magazine called Burda (formerly Burda World of Fashion) on my birthday list. From what folks tell me and what I see the patterns in that magazine are very well drafted, and don't have a lot of the drafting & ease problems that are in the American 'Big 4' pattern companies. I have one issue of Burda, and as soon as I get this halter top dress done (and then shades for MrB, and then a linen shirtdress done), I want to make a knit dress from a pattern in that magazine!
And now I go get ready for my day. Not only is it a Monday, but tomorrow's year-end and I still have a LOT of stuff to get ready for the new year!
