It was a good & productive weekend.

Saturday was spent being lazy, going to the Saturday Market around 2:30pm, then being lazy & playing video games. :)

Sunday was spent working on my quilt. :D I got the rest of the blocks cut out and sewn up. Then I also managed to get all my blocks arranged into a decent-looking pattern.

Then once I was sure I liked the layout, sewed the rows together (the picture is from befoer this step). The thing that took the longest, besides cutting & sewing the new blocks, was cutting all the rest of the blocks down to the same size!

Now I can take my rows, and go to the fabric store and buy batting & fabric for the outer border.

I have more of the ivory fabric (it's in the three blocks in the upper right-hand corner that are the same: a stripe of floral, then a stripe of the ivory, the a stripe of dark purple), and I'm going to use that for the inner border (will be 1-2" wide).

I can't decide what color to use for the outer border & binding: I'm thinking a dark green, or perhaps a burgundy or purple... those are both dark colors I have a lot of in my quilt. Help me decide! What color do you think I should use as a nice wide dark frame for my quilt? :D

I have backing fabric, but I don't think I have enough of it to use for this quilt (the quilt ended bigger than I thought it would)!

The blocks that I liked putting together the most were the 'flying geese' (the blocks that are in three 4-block patterns across the middle, with the two large triangles in each block), and the 'log cabin' blocks (the ones with lots and lots of little strips in them - I've arranged them into two 4-block patterns at the top & bottom of the quilt). The others I found to be a bit difficult (well not the ones that were just three wide strips - those were ok, but they're also a bit boring).

Looking good! :)

And hey, you're a quilting bee!

(I'm sure you've never heard that one before...)

I think I'd cross the burgundy off the list, personally. The purple could tie it all together, especially since the center panels are purple. I don't think the burgundy would be quite as friendly to the border purple.

But the green could be nice for contrast. I'm fond of green. It's a soothing color. And while there are smatters of green throughout, there aren't really any large patches of it (unlike the purple). And it does go with the floral borders.
