I should've known!
Apr. 10th, 2009 06:31 pmThe website Breakout Bras came up in the a thread on sewing for hourglass figure shapes on a sewing message board I frequent (patternreview.com). Because my bras weren't fitting me too well (slipping down in front, slight pillowing on some bras, center not coming to my breastbone), I measured myself according to the website's rules and came up that I was a 32H! (OMG!)
I went to a specialty bra store here in town, and got a good measuring/fitting. They determined that I was a 34F (aka 34DDD). They also told me that the reason my bras were slipping down in front was because the straps were too long (even though I'd adjusted them to be as short as they would go).
This is a *good* store, and they freely did the altering needed to remove between 2.5" and 3" from each of the three pairs of bras I bought - I must've tried on at least a dozen or two! They have two sewing machines set up right near the dressing rooms. :)
I should've known I needed to buy 'petite' bras just like I buy petite everything else!! LOL!
I'm definitely going to go back to this place to get a sports bra and a good swimsuit. :)
