Order of the Phoenix
Jul. 13th, 2007 07:55 pmMr & I went to go see it Wednesday night...
I really liked it! At first while I was watching the movie I kept doing a lot of (internal) 'oh no they left that out!' or 'huh, they changed that up a bit'.
But after I thought about it I was impressed with how they managed to keep all of the really important parts of the book and very faithfully translate them onto the movie screen. There were some favorite parts that didn't make it (like Hermione & Ron being prefects, more of the interaction with the adults, but most especially the OWL exams at the end... I was really disappointed that they only showed the one theory exam), but overall I was pleased with how it came out.
That being said, MrBee (as he hasn't read the books) had to ask me a couple questions during the movie about what something was or why something was being done.
Umbridge didn't quite have that underlying layer of pure evilness I got from the books. I did see movie-Umbridge as mean and without a conscience, but not the pure evil I read in the books.
I *loved* the girl who played Luna. That's exactly how I pictured her in my head.
It's a lot of fun to see Harry/Daniel, Ron/Rupert, and Hermione/Emma have grown up and see how much their acting has improved from the first film.
I want to go see it in the theater again (at *least* once more) before it leaves.
In non Harry Potter news, as I'm hopeful for getting an iPod for my birthday I've decided to start building my music library into iTunes (plus I figured it's about time I figure out what all the fuss is about the iTunes store where one can buy songs to download).
