Portland People!

I need the name of a good hotel that's close to the Rose Garden (Justin concert... SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!).
Close via the Max is fine.

I'm planning to go look at the new IKEA store that just opened up when I'm there over the weekend. Though as our house is already overcrowded, I should *not* buy anything.

I'm not from Portland but I have been looking for hotels close to the Rose Garden because I'll be there for that show. The two that I found are either the Econolodge - Convention Center or La Quinta - Convention Center. We ended up going with La Quinta, it looks a little more decent than the Econolodge. Both places are about 1 to 2 minutes away from the venue (according to Map Quest).

The La Quinta looks good (free breakfast, YUMM!), and only a tenth of a mile from the Rose Garden.
I went ahead and booked myself a room there.

How long do you have in Portland? Anyone else traveling with you?

If you've never been to the area before, Multnomah Falls up the Columbia Gorge is a gorgeous place that's not-to-be-missed (you see the picture of the falls on a lot of postcards & things).
Powells Books is also a fabulous place, and one of my favorite places. Multi-storied (4 or 5 I think), and takes up an entire city block... nothing but books! Both new & used.

If you have kids traveling with you the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry is a fun place for them (commonly known in the area as OMSI). They have an IMAX theater and almost always a bunch of different interesting exhibits. MrBee & I went there several months ago because we both loved the place so much as kids we wanted to go back and see what they had - it was obviously kid-oriented, but I learned things & we both had fun.

I'm probably going to get there early/mid-afternoon on Friday. It's a 2 hour drive to Portland from where I live.

Saturday I want to go drive out to near where the airport is and see the new IKEA store that just opened up (grand opening was late June, I think). I've never been to an IKEA store before & I'm looking forward to it.

The Max line is Portland's light-rail system. Evidently you can ride into downtown for free, so I may do that so I don't have to fight for parking if I decide to go check out Powells on Friday. Boy, with all I want to do, I better get up early so I can get into Portland by lunchtime!

I'm SOOOO excited to go see Justin in concert!! I've seen the group in concert at the same place on the Celebrity Tour (that tour opened in Portland, so it was extra special)

Sorry for the late reply.

I'll be in Portland from the 6th to the 8th and I'll be traveling with a friend of mine.

Thanks for the suggestions! We're still trying to decide what we're going to do while we're there. We definitely want to go to IKEA (we've never been there before either) but we might go to the one in Seattle. We were going to try and use the MAX but it was too confusing for us so we decided to rent a car for the day.

I'm excited as well! I'm sure you'll really enjoy the show! I've already seen it in Vegas but am looking forward to seeing it once again. We'll be going to the Tacoma show as well.
