Road trip!
Nov. 1st, 2007 06:05 pmIn just a couple hours MrB and I leave to go south. We're going to stay with my newly acquired brother-in-law who works (& lives during the week) in a town about 3/4 hours south/south-east of us.
Then tomorrow morning we're going to go further south to Sacramento to visit my newly acquired mother-in-law (eeek?) and my grandparents (whom I love very much except for the fact that they're ultra-christian conservative old farts... but we avoid certain topics and we all get on fine... though grandma does still ask me at very visit if I've accepted Jesus, it really bothers her that I don't go to church anymore like I did as a little girl... I haven't told her I'm an atheist with agnostic tendancies because I'm not sure her poor 80-plus year old heart would be able to take it).
We're going to spend Saturday hanging out with my grandparents (& my cousin and her husband, and possibly my aunt and her husband). Then on Sunday we're going to spend the day with MrB's mom.
I've only met her a few times, and the concept of having a mother-in-law has me a bit nervous. She has just 2 kids, both boys, and I'm her 2nd daughter-in-law (college friend R was her first DIL). When she calls to talk to MrB she occasionally asks for him to hand the phone to me and we've chatted briefly. I think it would be easier to get to know her if she lived closer (but MrB & I have enough trouble with my mom living in the same town as us... we're both looking forward to moving in afew several years when MrB is done with school).
MrB and I are really splurging on a very nice hotel, and we're bringing our new laptop. The hotel promises to have free broadband, and for $130/night I should hope so!
I'm really looking forward to the extra hour of sleep on Sunday night!
