Thanksgiving went really well, but my goodness was it exhausting!
The last several days I've crashed and gone to bed really early, and this morning I finally managed to wake up feeling somewhat alert & awake.
This weekend should be lots of fun! On Saturday I get to (hopefully!) finish up 2 dresses I've been working on! It's an open sew lab where we get to bring something to work on and the teacher will offer her help. One of the dresses is almost done, and just needs the collar/neckline finished up (it's attached, I just didn't know what the directions meant when it came to the finishing), the sleeves to be attached, the skirt side seams to be sewn together (I added pockets there that aren't in the instructions, so I need help with that). Then I just need to add the skirt to the bodice and I'll have a fabulous new dress!
The other dress is much further from being done. It has a lining, and LOTS of darts. The darts are all sewn (lining and dress), but I have to put the large fabric belt together, then sew it to the dress front, then the dress front & back get put together, then a thousand other little steps... This second dress is more of a sheath dress and while I LOVE pockets in a dress, I don't think they would work well with this kind of a dress. After I get better at this whole sewing thing, I'll figure out how one adds pockets to a lined dress. :)
MrB got me a new sewing machine for Christmas! :) It's a Janome Heart Truth machine:
So far it's FABULOUS! No clunking and no thread tangles! :)
The other one I'd been using was a cheap-as-shit gift that *never* worked right. Once I'm sure the new machine works well (after a month) I'll donate the old machine to goodwill or something. If all someone needs is to hem pants twice a year, it'll work just fine for them.
