Cancer?!?!
Nov. 29th, 2007 05:53 pmFirst person I know to get a cancer diagnosis... and it's my own mother!
Thankfully it's the mildest and most common form of skin cancer - Basal Cell Carcinoma.
My mom grew up in Southern California when all they had was tanning lotion and thought that a good dark tan was healthy. So frankly it's not a huge surprise...
But it's still cancer... and thusly just a *bit* scary!
She's going to have surgery to remove it next week.
ETA: looking at the details at Wikipedia, she has the Superficial kind - she had a funny looking red spot on her forehead for over 6 months that never went away, so went in to see the Dr about it last week. They did a biopsy, and she just got the results today (the Dr called her at home - which is *never* a good sign).
