fun while driving
Aug. 23rd, 2006 07:04 amLast night HTB & I went over to my folks house to drop off some of the blackberry jam he made. Then I dropped off HTB at his brother & sister-in-law's house so he could help them fix their DSL.
On my way back home from dropping HTB off I found that the lights at the two intersections of a major local highway & a major busy street were out. Not power-out, but just flashing red. These are intersections where one cross street is a major 7-lane road, and the other is a freeway on-off ramp. Having those intersections now be basically stop signs was not so much with the fun. But I was actually rather impressed with everybody. Everybody was stopping, it was all rather orderly, and it went smoothly (without even a police officer present to direct traffic - a couple of cop cars showed up right as I had managed to get through the 2nd intersection).
And then when I was waiting in the left turn lane to turn onto the street my apartment complex is on, I saw the cutest thing!! There were 3 Canada Geese walking down the sidewalk in a row. Then I really really wished I had a camera when they proceeded to walk down the curb cut-out, into the crosswalk, and crossed the street! They walked up the cut-out on the other side and continued walking down the sidewalk.
Of course I finally got a green left turn light when the geese were in the middle of the crosswalk. I guess they've figured out crosswalks but not what the walk & don't walk symbols. ;) I waited until they were 3/4ths of the way through, and by then of course my nice green light had gone yellow, and then I carefullly made the turn & gave them a whole bunch of room.
It was sooooo cute!!
In other news I was a complete scatterbrain at work yesterday. Constantly reading things wrong, panicking thinking that things were due a month before they really were, all sorts of fun stuff.
Here's hoping that today goes a bit better!
