Apr. 18th, 2007 08:55 amI never actually thought that this would come to pass...
I suppose I should've expected it given the new makeup of the Supreme Court.
I just hope it's not the beginning of something worse.
What I can't understand is why so many people (mostly those who are against abortion) think that pro-choice = pro-abortion. Pro-choice just means they themselves and everyone else is free to do as their own conscience/morals/religion deem appropriate.
No one has the right to impose their own moral/religious values on anyone else (and outside of the realm of abortion rights I think most people in the US would agree with that). I hope this is not the stepping stone to making our nation's laws follow the moral beliefs of one religious group (or groups). Just because *your* particular religion says something is a bad thing is NOT enough of a reason for you to make it a law that everyone in the nation must adhere to!
There are many things I love about my country, and there are quite a few things I think we have completely ass-backwards.
I really, really wish Bush hadn't gotten re-elected.
:(

Date: 2007-04-28 12:39 am (UTC)The other great thing is that everyone is allowed their own beliefs and no one is forced to live according to the religious beliefs of another. You may feel I should, but it is my right to live my life according to my own beliefs and values, within the confines of the laws that keep our civilization civil.

Date: 2007-04-28 03:03 am (UTC)I go to a christian college and a lot of people here try to impose their values upon others like its their job. I think the problem is that a lot of people feel their way is the right way, whether that be religious or political or whatever.
