I never actually thought that this would come to pass...

I suppose I should've expected it given the new makeup of the Supreme Court.

I just hope it's not the beginning of something worse.

What I can't understand is why so many people (mostly those who are against abortion) think that pro-choice = pro-abortion. Pro-choice just means they themselves and everyone else is free to do as their own conscience/morals/religion deem appropriate.

No one has the right to impose their own moral/religious values on anyone else (and outside of the realm of abortion rights I think most people in the US would agree with that). I hope this is not the stepping stone to making our nation's laws follow the moral beliefs of one religious group (or groups). Just because *your* particular religion says something is a bad thing is NOT enough of a reason for you to make it a law that everyone in the nation must adhere to!

There are many things I love about my country, and there are quite a few things I think we have completely ass-backwards.

I really, really wish Bush hadn't gotten re-elected.

I'd have to disagree with you there.

You're allowed to, that's one of the great things about living in this country.

The other great thing is that everyone is allowed their own beliefs and no one is forced to live according to the religious beliefs of another. You may feel I should, but it is my right to live my life according to my own beliefs and values, within the confines of the laws that keep our civilization civil.

I agree with you that nobody should impose their values on anyone unwillingly, but I'm just not sure that most of America feels the same way.
I go to a christian college and a lot of people here try to impose their values upon others like its their job. I think the problem is that a lot of people feel their way is the right way, whether that be religious or political or whatever.

Indeed, people proselytize frequently. And they it seems to me that people feel it's not only their right, but their duty to shove their beliefs down the collective throats of the rest of the universe.

I stepped away from religion many years ago, and I forget just how deeply people believe.
