More details later, but the short story is that my dad was admitted to the hospital late last night (or early this morning, depending on how you look at it). He's in surgery for appendicitis as I type.
Unlike my own appendectomy where I had a 1.5 - 2" incision, my dad will have his surgery done laproscopically and will only have a little hole.
Hopefully that'll make his recovery time a lot faster. I remember that not being a lot of fun!
Back to finishing up important stuff at work & then I'm off to the hospital.

Date: 2006-03-22 01:47 am (UTC)He says the holes are a little tender, but really not painful. And he only has these normal regular little bandaids, too!
They started him on water & jello just to make sure he wasn't nauseous, and he had a full lunch at 12:30pm. I was on a clear liquids diet for at least 24 hours. Walking around was painful, and the recovery process lasted weeks. I was in the hospital for 3 and a half days.
I'm *really* impressed by how easy this whole thing was for him. Medical science has really come along way in a very short amount of time!
