::hugs computer::

Picture this. Two computer-geek individuals. Sharing 1 computer. No other means of entertainment (well, I have a book to read, but I've been reading the same book for the last 3 or 4 days and it's getting really old). I should be much less happy than I am about hubby-to-be having to work late due to a server/network emergency at work, but as it allows me automatic free access to the computer, I'm not all that sad about it. It's his computer, so he kinda gets first dibs on it. Especially because he's recently had all kinds of hard drive troubles and is still in the process of getting his raid array function (it's nearly there, he needs to replace another drive that's gone bad).

The grantwriting class is going very well. I think it's going to be very useful. I've been surprised by how much research & statistics should be included. This class has once again reminded me just how much I despise group projects. We have this group project to write an actual grant proposal following the format we've been taught in this class. One of our group of 4 just wants to rush through the whole damn thing and write & polish & perfect all in one sitting. So while the rest of us were brainstorming and getting a rough outline together of our ideas, she ran off to the computer lab next door to write up the introduction. But of course she proceeded to interrupt the rest of us every 10 minutes telling us she was stuck, and we had to read what she had so far and give her feedback and help her with a couple parts so she could finish it. Never mind the fact that we were deep in discussion about a completely other part of the proposal. And that the person who's nonprofit this is all about should've been the one to write the introduction since she actually *knows* the organization and can write a good compelling intro that's not just plagiarized from the organization's website 'about us' section.

Arrrgggggghhhhh!!!! At least we made good progress and don't have too much to do tomorrow. We have to complete the whole thing by noon tomorrow. At first they wanted me to type up what they dictated onto my laptop so they didn't have to go into the noisy computer lab and write there (there was a whopping 10 people in the lab). Never mind the fact that I was also doing the budget portions of the proposal. I had to remind one of the other group members that she told me earlier that she'd also brought a laptop. Thankfully I managed to convince them that it would be better if they used that other laptop so I could work on the budget portions. [I was deathly afraid I was going to end up getting stuck doing everything. That's why I can't *stand* group projects.]

Harry Potter comes out in 2 and a half days!!! :D I'm gonna go get mine at Costco. When the last book came out they had pallets & pallets of copies at very reasonable prices.

HTB & I went to go see Fantastic 4 on Sunday. We both really enjoyed it! I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I was going to.
HTB doesn't have his computer desk set up yet. There's a nice built-in desk in the kitchen area, but HTB is using the long narrow drawer (that's supposed to hold pens & pencils and things) as a keyboard tray. That'd be fine if it wasn't for the front end of the drawer that sticks up into one's forearms as you're trying to type.
Talk about getting old fast!

Good news! My half-sister who lives in the town that Hurricane Dennis went through, was vacationing in Tampa at the time and is unhurt. Her hubby left early to go back up to their house to batten down the hatches. No word yet on how much (if any) damage they got, but they live a ways from the beach so I'm hoping it's not too bad.

I can't wait until I get home to my own computer!!
(Note to self: two computer-geeks do *not* share a single computer very well)
