rosebeeA fabulous weekend was had!!
It's been so much fun visiting with my half-sister. Seeing the little things that indicate one's genetics are stronger than environment in determining what'll happen has been very interesting. It turns out that her son (my nephew) also started snoring the very day he was brought home from the hospital (just like I did). All due to overly large tonsils & adenoids (his were found when he was 5 or 6, mine not until I was 13).
And my sister has such severe lazy eye that she's blind in one eye. I've always had an eye that wanders inward and have had a prism in my glasses lens to correct for that. The eye dr's found mine when I was young, hers was much more severe and wasn't found until it was much too late.
We also went on the Tour of Homes. It was amazing fun!!! The first one we went to was a very large (very expensive) *very* modern/industrial home up in the hills. No carpet anywhere (there was a few rugs around, though). The floors were all concrete, and the siding on the outside of the house was this weird corrugated metal stuff. It was all very industrial looking.
The last one we went to (we only went to 5 or 6 of the 2 or 3 dozen homes) was this huge gorgeous Mediterranean-style home out in the countryside 15 or 20 minutes outside of town. It was absolutely amazing! Walk-in refrigerator, pizza oven, wine cellar, 5 bedrooms & 4 bathrooms, it was just huge. But it was gorgeous. I really like the Mediterranean look, and I'll be pondering in the back of my head how I can someday try and take that look and apply it to the small house that HTB & I will hopefully be able to afford someday.
I can't believe it's been 4 years since the release of Celebrity. All at the same time it feels like of course it's been that long already, and are you sure it hasn't been longer?
Today's supposed to be cooler than the coming days. 86 degrees according to the ForecastFox extension I installed in my FireFox browser (I *love* that thing). I'm going to hope it cools down enough this evening for me to go for a bike ride. I haven't been exercising lately (it's probably been a month at least) and I've managed to put back on all 5 of the pounds I'd lost. :( Oh well. More exercise and they'll come off again. Though I know that the yo-yo thing isn't healthy.
