Sigh. It's Monday...
Aug. 8th, 2005 10:39 amA lovely weekend was had. Though I didn't get to sleep in nearly enough. And I my brother was in town from Seattle, and so I had to spend *all* day Saturday visiting with him and his girlfriend. Though I must say he's a much nicer person nowadays. This particular girlfriend of his is very nice, and very very good for him.
And I didn't really have to spend all day with him. I took the morning for myself. REI had a Women's Cycling Clinic & Group Ride that I went to. Well I went to the clinic part, but I couldn't stick around for the Group Ride, because I thought my mom was taking us all out to lunch for my brother's birthday. Which didn't happen. Oh well. The Cycling Clinic was really good!!! It went over emergency roadside repairs (how to change a tire, make sure the tube isn't caught underneath the tire rim where it'll pop when inflated, and other good important things to know). It also went over what stuff to look for before you go for a ride, and what to look for & clean when you get back.
It was lots of fun! I rode my bike down to the REI shop where it was held. I haven't been out on my bike in a month or so, and I was shocked at how quickly I got out of shape!
I'm going to ride my bike to work at least once week. I got saddlebags, so I'll be able to carry my lunch & work clothes (so I won't get my work clothes all sweaty by riding to work in them). And I've got a good lock.
Breaktime's way past over. Back to work with me.
Sometime I'll remember that frequent shorter updates are easier for everybody!

Date: 2005-08-09 02:54 pm (UTC)I've got a nice little tire pump that has a little foot lever that folds down for easier pumping but still is tiny enough to attach to my frame (I've got a women's bike because I like them easier, and I'll easily be able to attach this pump to the underside of the bottom tube that slopes down to the pedals).
I also picked up a spare tube that I'm going to squeeze into my underseat bag. I plan to ride to work for the first time tomorrow. :)
But yes. Definitely go to the clinic! You won't regret it!
