It *just* figures!
Oct. 12th, 2004 01:59 pmI spent several hours with my Mom on Saturday, shopping for a dress to wear to this wedding the boyfriend & I are going to Boise for in 3 weeks.
I found a very pretty dress at Ross for only $25! It's dark purple velvet, short sleeved, ankle length, with a built-in sash that follows the neckline in the front and then has a 'tail' that goes down my back over the left-hand shoulder. I even found a very nice floral-pattern wrap made of dark purple velvet with pretty fringe on the ends.
I finally got the boyfriend to ask what colors the wedding were. This was of course after he was completely baffled and I had to explain the concept of color-themes at weddings. He asked his friend (the bride) what colors the wedding was in. The answer? Purple & white! This was enough of an answer for him, but the wife of the couple he was staying with this past weekend asked him if it was light-purple, lavender, purple, or dark purple. Again, with the bafflement. But, he asked. It just figures that it's not just purple & white, but *dark* purple & white!
So after spending hours upon hours searching for a classy, elegant, dress (that doesn't have a case of sparkly/sequins overdose), I get to do it all over again this weekend. As Mom & I have already gone through all the major stores in this town, I'm thinking a trip an hour north to my *favorite* store, Nordstroms, is in order! :)

Date: 2004-10-12 02:23 pm (UTC)I'll happily coordinate with the wedding colors, and wear a two-tone or something with purple in it, or purple as an accent, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with that as the one-and-only color of my dress.
I'll be much more comfortable (and less self-conscious) wearing something else.
