The Good News: The boyfriend got a job (pending the results of the drug test & background check)!! :)
The Bad News: It's 8 hours away from me.
Looks like I'll get to do the long-distance relationship thing (again). He and I have done this before (though that was when we were in the get-to-know-you stage of dating, and things have now progressed far beyond that point).
Now I get to sit down and really figure out if I want to move to be where he is. A lot of that decision depends on how long he thinks he's going to be there. I have another 7 and a half months on my apartment lease, and I can't possibly move before that runs out. So, at least I have several months to think about all of this. Several months to see how well he/I/we will manage having a long-distance relationship, how long he thinks he'll be over there, how important the ties that are keeping me here are to me (& how strong they are), and all the other issues that are going to come up with having a long-distance relationship that is at this particular stage.
I think I should buy stock in Southwest Airlines!

Date: 2004-11-17 07:28 am (UTC)Yeah, I'm thrilled that he got a job (he's really needed one, badly). But scared at how unfun the distance thing is going to be. At least it won't be forever, though. Either I'll move over there, or he'll move back here. It all depends on how long/quickly he'll be able to get through the schooling he needs to do over there. If he thinks he can get the schooling done in a year and a half or two years, then I'll probably wait for him to move back here. If he thinks it'll take longer than 2 years, I'll probably move over there (but nothing can/will happen until after we're engaged - I'm not moving and uprooting myself unless I have some sort of solid/offical commitment - until I have the money to move, and until my apartment lease runs out at the end of June '05.

Date: 2004-11-17 09:30 am (UTC)At least it's not across country, too -- an 8 hour drive is doable, and the flight is even more doable.
*vibes* *more hugs*

Date: 2004-11-19 06:18 pm (UTC)We're talking about all kinds of different options.
I have no clue what he/I/we will end up doing...
Just knowing where he's going to be living/working is helpful, even if I don't know what I'm going to do yet.
