I bought new shoes!

New shoes!!

I got 2 pairs. [Edit] I was looking at buying this particular shoe for the past couple of weeks. Then I stopped by the store on my lunch hour, and saw that the exact style of shoe I was looking at was 50% off! :D Only $60 each!! That's unheard of for Birkenstocks! I figured I better get a pair now, while they were on sale. I was only going to buy one pair, the taupe. Then the lady who was helping me said that the reason they're on sale is because they're discontinuing the style, and the sale was going to go on until they sold all the shoes. That's when I figured I should get both the colors I was debating. One in black suede, and the other in taupe (a dark tan/beige color). The other color they had (that you can see in the picture) is a dark brown. I have another very casual pair of clogs in that same color, and I'm really disliking it. It's nice & dark so it goes with a fair amount of stuff, but it's not the same as a good, dark black shoe.
They have the old-fashioned classic footbed that I like (lots of good toe room & arch support), and they're dressy enough to wear to work everyday! :D Because the strap is fairly far back on the sandal/shoe, they stay on really well and don't just slip right off like some of my other pairs.

Happiness is!!!

::bounces::

My wallet really wishes that the birkenstock store was further away from my office than the mere block & a half it is now. Birkenstocks are *all* I wear (though I do wear sneakers or hiking boots when I'm going for a walk or something), and I love them dearly. I own many, many pairs. Probably far more than I should.
I'm even thinking about whether or not I can wear a nice pair of white summer birkenstock sandals with my wedding dress! ::hangs head in shame:: I'm an addict, I tell you!

LOL!!!

I got the cheapest pair of shoes from payless I could find for my wedding - my dress covered them anyway - then took them off at the reception and didn't put them on again and went barefoot (scandal!!!). They were grad shoes I guess - silver mesh - they hurt like hell.

Barefoot is a very real possiblity. We have no idea where we're gonna have our wedding. If we have it in my parent's backyard, then there'll be Birkenstocks involved, as they have no grass in their backyard (well not lawn grass, they have some ornamental grasses planted in a few spots), and wood chips are *not* conducive to bare feet.

I wore Isotoner Slippers under my wedding dress. It's your day - wear whatever you want.

Now that's a really good idea!
Birkenstocks are the *most* comfiest things ever invented, though bathrobes and fleece-anything is a close second. And, I'm gonna be comfy dammit! Plus any excuse to buy another pair of Birkenstocks is a good excuse!

New Shoes! I love shoes! I own a lot of pairs that I never wear. lol

Brikenstock's are so very comfy. I'd wear them everyday if I could. They should make some with heels! lol Then again, that would look a bit odd. I'm short so I like to wear uncomfy shoes purely for the extra height.

I'm short, too. 5'2" with thick socks on ;) I wish I could wear heels. But due to genetics that have blessed me with feet that are both very flat and very wide. As a result, I've had arthritis in both of my big toes for several years now. The way I figure it's because I have no arches to help spread the weight when I walk so all the weight ends up on my big toes. I can still wear heels, but only for a few hours.
It's always kinda disappointing because I'm always seeing these cute little shoes (with or without heels) that I'd *love* to be able to wear, but they're never wide enough and they always pinch & hurt my toes.

I'm even shorter than that. lol

Ouch! You poor thing. :(

I have wide feet too. :P It's genetic and makes it difficult for me to find a good pair of shoes that I'm actually happy with.

Yay for comfy new shoes!

Several years ago a friend of mine sent me a pair of plain white keds and asked me to decorate them for her wedding shoes. I painted them and glued on faux pearls and sparkly beads. You could always do something like that if you don't want plain ones. Or get fancy ribbons to wrap around the leather straps. Or go barefoot. *g*

Your day! You get to choose!

I'm pretty sure I'll just use it as a VERY good excuse to get a new pair of Birkenstocks! :) I love Birkenstocks!
