Feb. 25th, 2004 06:52 amI'm feeling so good & happy!!
The little head cold I got, that turned into a not-so-little sinus thing, turned into the cough that the rest of the office is fighting, decided to try and fool me and flare up my asthma. It tried to trick me because the cough that goes with the cold, the cough that a lot of other people are fighting, feels and sounds *very* similar to how things feel & sound when my asthma's doing bad. So, I finally got in to see an asthma doctor, and now I have meds for my nebulizer and prednisone, and I'm feeling human again & not coughing every 5 seconds!
Since I don't know that I'm ever going to get coherent enough about this album to make a sensible post, I might as well do it now.
This is my first listen to Schizophrenic on headphones. I listened to it last night on my dvd player/surround sound system. I also listened to it all day at the office. But at the office, I have to share an office with someone, so I can't turn it up as much as I'd really like to. I have half a mind to bring in headphones so I can really turn it up.
I love every single damn song on this album!
Some Girls (Dance With Women) - this's been out for a while, I like it, but I don't think it's my favorite song. Though I like it a LOT more without Dirt McGirt interrupting him.
She Got Me - I really like the rhythm and hand-clap type effects on this song.
100 Ways - What don't I love about this song?! Other than pehaps the blush that I know I'm gonna get when people come up and say "gee, what's that song about?" The heavy breathing, and the "like this, yeah", and the rhythm & the melody... GOD I *love* this song! The low voice at 2:44 or so, where he says "any time you need me... so much fun being naughty" ::thud:: Also, "turn up your cell phone and bring out the Gatorade"... say wha?
Mercy - Love this one too!! eeep! More low-voice rumble singing! (around 1:55, maybe?). Ahhh! I was hearing siren-like sounds in the background yesterday. Fittingly they show up after the line "I'd break the law...".
Build My World - ::sways to the music:: ::happy sigh:: Hmmmm... I love this song, too. I always have been a soft-hearted sucker when it comes to ballads. I blame it entirely on little Joey McIntrye and "Please Don't Go Girl" forever capturing my 11-year-old heart, and forever influencing my taste in music. But, yes. Love. this. song!
If You Were My Girl - A nice rockish song to follow that lovely ballad. I did quite the double take yesterday when I heard that orgasm-like scream yesterday! It's oh so much better in headphones. I think I like his line of "love you all night strong"... but the slasher in me thinks that the "girl" at the end of the line was a last minute substitution. *g* I love how nice & long all the songs are on this album. Very few short 3 & a half minute things. This one is a lovely 5min & 42sec! Heehee! There's the good, breathy, "ah, ah, ah" followed by an almost-scream.
Shake It - I like this song, too! What a surprise, huh? *g* I like the background vocals, very breathy... I wonder if that's JC or not? I'll just pretend it is, 'k? I like the beat that's underneath the song. I kinda liked "Plug It In", too. Maybe I should go look into purchasing Kish Kash. I bought my brother Justified (for which he was truly grateful, he really liked "Rock Your Body", and he was thrilled not to have to show his own face in the record store to purchase the album)... maybe for kicks, I'll see if he can/wants to buy me Kish Kash.
All Day Long I Dream About Sex - I like this song, too. When I had the cd full of clips, I had this song in full, and "Some Girls" in full. I usually skipped this song (not exactly a song I want blasting in my office). At this point, I have absolutely no hope of remembering who said this, but whoever you are, I agree with your assessment that the album version doesn't quite capture the raw power of the song that we heard/saw when he performed it on the Wade Robson Project.
One Night Stand - The story from JC about how this song came about really amuses me. It makes the kinda corny song a lot mroe interesting. I like this song. Lots. I'm gonna be late for work though if I don't skip on through to the next song, so a detailed impression/review will have to wait until later. I don't think I like the little talking interlude in the middle of the song. I like the line "cruising along until we hit the back seat, 'cause that's where the music sounds so sweet".
Come To Me - Yay! I *love* this song!! I absolutely adore the "Sunglasses At Night" rhythm undercurrent. Why, yes. I am a child of the 80's. Is this the falling in love with an alien song? I can't quite tell. I suppose it could be. I think it's so very much JC that he worked in the line "'Cause when I'm all alone, I lie awake and masturbate, love to hear the sounds you make, baby here I come" I love listening to him sing that line, too. *g*
Dear Goodbye - ::melts:: Did I mention how I'm a sucker for ballads? Yeah. Love this song, too! It makes me want to take poor JC in my arms, hold him, hug him, run my hand through his hair smoothing it, and whisper to him that it'll all be ok. Hmmmmm.... happy place...
Everything You Want - when I first heard the clip I thought the line was "everything you want, just keeps getting better", but now that I have the acutal cd, "everything you want, you just can't have it" makes a LOT more sense! The things we mishear! I like this song, not adoration, but I like it. Maybe it'll grow on me. And maybe once I have a chance to really listen to the lyrics & stuff. This song is a bit more difficult for me to hear what he's saying.
Lose Myself - Ooohhhhhhh! LOVE!THIS!SONG!! Daffodils! ::sways to the music:: hmmmmm.... ::gets lost in the song::
Right Here (By Your Side) - Yet another wonderful song! I like this one, too. I wanna know who he wrote the song about though! Then again, I like my guess better, and I don't want him to dissuade me of that notion. This song must be the sortest on the album though. Quite a change from the 6 minutes of All Day Long to the not quite 3 mintues of this song. This would be a wonderful song for him to do acoustically.
And now that I'm way late, I *need* to go shower & grab something for breakfast. Comments on the two bonus tracks will have to wait for another time.

Date: 2004-02-25 12:50 pm (UTC)Oh, heee! I've actually never seen Loveline -- I just read about it ages ago. Such a funny smart boy! Boy, his folks did a good job on him, didn't they?

Date: 2004-02-25 02:25 pm (UTC)I would like to! Um. *blush* I'm very allergic to perfume/fragrance stuff, like air fresheners and stuff. Are they somethng you use a lot of?

Absolutely not, they trigger my asthma. I avoid 'smelly' things, and cleaners with strong/harsh chemicals at all costs.
I'll likely be pretty busy until after tax season's over, so why don't we plan to try and arrange something for mid to late April?

Date: 2004-02-25 03:30 pm (UTC)Boo for asthma (me too!) but YAY that you don't use them! *happydance* Yes, I'd love to get together then. My schedule is wide open, so you can pretty much pick whenever you'd like. *happydance*

Date: 2004-02-25 05:02 pm (UTC)Given the 55 hour (minimum) work weeks I'll have between now & April 15th, I'm kinda doubting that'll happen. But you never know.
Did you read the amazing Rolling Stone article/transcript/? that

Date: 2004-02-25 06:08 pm (UTC)That looks like the same article I posted earlier in solo_chasez. It's very cool! Definitely one of the best interviews! (Although I'm very partial to the popgurls interview too. *grin* Math! Grammas!)
