After 3 years spending Thanksgiving with MrB's brother & SIL and *all* of SIL's family, this year I said I wanted to have Thanksgiving with my family. I miss our tradition of going around the (small table of less than 10 people) and saying what you're thankful for. My new BIL and his wife are wonderful people, and my friends, but I'm tired of having Thanksgiving with SIL's family... I want to share it with my own family.

So MrB and I are going to my folks house and will be joined by grandma, my brother and his girlfirend, and a family friend and her daughter. MrB said the only way he was agreeing to this was if we had turkey, and as my folks are vegetarian, that means we get to make it ourselves. So I've got a turkey on order that I'm picking up after work today (I'm REALLY hoping we get let off early - like say around 3pm). And I'll be taking that over to my folks house tomorrow morning to cook. Tonight I'll be making a good vegetarian gravy receipe we've all had before and liked. Tomorrow morning MrB will stay here and make stuffing.

As my family eats earlier than MrB's brother & SIL, we're going to go over there for dessert. I'm really really hoping that the timing works out that we'll have an hour or two to ourselves in between the two events.

I'm also very much looking forward to this weekend. I only have this long weekend to get my two sewing projects to the places where I'm ready for the teachers help, as next weekend is my open sewing lab where the teacher will help me finish things up. Long dress (princess seams & empire waist) is *almost* ready for that. I need to sew the 3 front and 3 back skirt panels together. Then I think I'm going to get the teachers help to sew the sides together, as I put in pockets on the side and I'm not exactly sure how to proceed on my own. But the 2nd dress I haven't even really started sewing together yet. And I may not. I may wait until the class to do so, as there are darts involved, and other things I haven't done before that I'd LOVE her help with.

I should go get ready for work.

I've also picked out the new sewing machine I want for Christmas! I hate and despise the stupid Singer Simple machine my mom picked up for $99 at WalMart for my birthday. It sews, but barely. It's always eating thread and makes weird clunking noises even after I've taken all the bobbin parts apart and oiled them and blown a can of air at it. Hatehatehatehate! I'm getting a new Janome Heart Truth 2008 machine for Christmas, and MrB is going to get a shiny new video card. Merry Christmas to us! :D
