I was surfing the net, and came across some article online that mentioned this website, creativecommons.org

After poking around, it looks like a free way to copyright & license your creative works. I wonder however, how it would work when one of the things you want to license is a story you created, based on a real person.

hmmm...

anyway, looks like a cool little site. Especially for those of you on my friends list that create fully original stories.

Sheesh. I go to work in the morning, and everything's all nice & happy, people ale are excited about JC's club/radio tour starting tonight, and generally in a good mood/spirits.

I get home, and it seems there's been a bit of excitement regarding certain things that were said in an interview with Rolling Stone.

I think I'm going to go read what was said/written and see how I feel about it.

::goes to find & read article snippets::

And I'm back.

Huh. I can see why some people in fandom are a tad miffed by some of the things he said. With that said, here's my take on the situation...

I can see wholeheartedly why he said he thought Justified was better than anything the group'd done. The whole reason he wanted to do the solo project was so he could have complete control over it. That's the only reason, as far as I can see, that a person who was in a group would want to go out and do a solo album. And if he has something that he had complete control over, that he was able to put his heart and soul into, without having to compromise or make changes he didn't originally feel were necessary to preserve the 'image' of a band that he didn't create (the band's image, I mean), then it's natural that he's going to feel that the work of art that results is a better one than one that he had to modify & make changes to.

When they started the haitus, I believe one (or more than one) of them said something to the effect that the reason they were comfortable taking this break now was because they were all pleased with where they had come with Celebrity. They felt that before they got back together to record the next album, it was time for all the guys to have the opportunity to got out and do different things and get new experiences to bring back to the group.

Plus, I *totally* agree with [livejournal.com profile] dacey when she said in her post, 'when I read that quote I just hear him clapping in the back of my mind over and over and over and over, like he did in the Artist Launch special. "Britney Britney Britney Janet Janet Janet. Try doing that all *fucking* day."

Only right now it's Cameron Cameron Cameron NSYNC NSYNC NSYNC. Relentless press sucks. And stars are never allowed to have a private bad mood.
'

There was more I was gonna say, I think. But, I can't think of exactly what it was, or the words I want to use. Plus, I'm hungry.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bon1138 for scanning, to Candy for originally hosting them, and to [livejournal.com profile] afropuff for uploading & sharing.

Quote from the Q article:

After another Bee Gees run-through, manger Johnny Wright walks on set with five pieces of paper. They are T-shirt designs for Timberlake's approval. Merchandise for the upcoming tour, I suggest naively. "No, they'll be for the 1.6 million McDonald's employees worldwide," sighs Wright, as though the promotional maths were ludicrious even to him.

::blinks::
Justin had approval on McDonald employee T-shirts?!

I guess there was a bit more to that McDonald's endorsement than him licensing his song to use in their commercials.
And further into the article, they have more details:
Earlier this year Timberlake met the McDonald's top brass in LA. They'd had enough of Ronald McDonald, they told him. Like Timberlake, they are repositioning themselves as a cooler brand. They want to place their ground beef-filled buns in a more hip environment. "The bigwigs from this gazillion-dollar operation said, We want your brain," he enthuses. "They said, We want your ideas for ads. If you can incorporate yourself in them, then great. But if not, we just want your brain. And I thought, This could be creative."

Resume for Justin Timberlake (by [livejournal.com profile] rosebee)
-Member of the all new Mickey Mouse Club
-Co-lead vocalist of the boyband *NSYNC
-Songwriter
-Musician
-Designer/creator of advertising campaigns

Other interesting quotes & my commentary behind here )

I hope that Cameron makes Justin happy. No, truly! I do! I want nothing but internal peace & happiness for Justin, I adore him. I hope he's found that with Cameron. Just because I don't like the style of movies she's made, or how she comes across in the interview's I've seen doesn't mean I don't wish her & Justin happiness. And so far, I've heard no rumors or stories about her being mean or nasty to fans (unlike some other hangers-on girlfriends we've heard about).

Watching the Together Again video I d/l earlier from [livejournal.com profile] adelate...

And I wondered... does JC ever feel uncomfortable or embarrassed that he doesn't have any pictures of himself as a very young child. On MTV's Snowed In, and on the little photo album segment in this video (which may have been the same picture, I can't remember), all the other guys had pictures of themselves between the ages of months old to a couple years old. Then JC's picture is of him at age 6 or 7.

It just kinda got me wondering. It'd be one thing if it was just him & his personal life. But when there're these occasions where he & his bandmates have to produce a photo from a certain era in each of their lives, it's instant comparison.
