World AIDS Day is a time to strengthen our commitment and to remember the estimated 22 million lives lost to this devastating global epidemic. It is estimated that over 42 million people worldwide are infected with HIV, and millions more will be infected by the end of the decade. Approximately 900,000 Americans are living with HIV/AIDS, and many of them don't know they are infected. In addition, some 40,000 are newly infected with HIV in this country every year.

These numbers are not just statistics–they represent real people. More information go here.

AIDS has not gone away people. Yeah, there're drugs now that help. But they're ugly, and nasty drugs. They're difficult to take, and they're not perfect. The drugs are not a cure. They're not even remotely affordable for the vast majority of the world population that has AIDS.

Stay educated.
Protect yourself. Protect your partners.
Love and support those in your life and in your community with AIDS.
