Yesterday, some kind soul who I now cannot remember Thanks [livejournal.com profile] topaz119!!! told me about a software program I hadn't heard about before. It's called VirtualDub. This amazing piece of technology let's you take an mpeg file, and it will pull out & save the audio! Easy!

Any video you have a song of, you can open in this program, and with a couple clicks of your mouse you can have a .wav file of the audio! Then any normal music program (MusicMatch, in my case) can convert the .wav to a .mp3.

But, the best part? It has a feature that lets you change when the audio starts playing within the video. We've all seen those captured clips where the audio is way out of sync with the video. I was playing around with it this morning with my mpeg of JC & co (Matt?, Tony?, Dale?) doing an MMC music video to Live and Learn. I've almost got it synched up, where the audio matches the video. I want to play with it a bit more when I get home from work tonight.

Fun! I can't wait to go through my files and see what videos I have that I want to get mp3's for!

And one more post, because this information should be spread as far & as wide as possible.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] embitca and [livejournal.com profile] sugarhigh9104 for making me aware of this...

from this article at mtv.com about the latest RIAA subpoenas against file-traders...
The latest version of Kazaa Lite has a way of hiding some of the shared music files on a user's hard drive and can purportedly prevent users with an IP address associated with the RIAA from scanning the list of active users.

Looks like I'm going to be making sure I've got the latest version of Kazaa lite installed when I get home tonight.

Hopefully this new version of Kazaa Lite actually works the way it claims to. Otherwise, it looks like I've got to figure out what [livejournal.com profile] embitca called the 'old fashioned way' of sharing files. (usenet & irc).

from kle50 @ the jjb:

BTW, JoJo is having all the gang from Fame in-studio tonight. JoJo was not sure if Joey would be there or not.

Anyone in the LA area who can listen to KIISfm, record this or transcribe it?

Yay!! I now have an mpeg for the music video "Live and Learn" as performed by JC & other MMC people.

And this one? The audio/video isn't out of sync anymore! I had to convert the original mpeg to an avi so I could tweak the audio portion, and then re-encode the file.

I feel so proud.

Next on my list is to rip the audio from "Mysterious Ways" and make it into an mp3. I've ripped the audio for Live & Learn already, it's currently in a wav file, so I just need to convert it into an mp3.

The revised "Live & Learn" mpeg is 18MB (while the original mpeg was 42MB... I'm still not sure how that happened).
I don't have a server or anything to share this with, so I'll have to stick with AIM transfers.

I'll edit this later with the file sizes for the new mp3's I'm in the middle of making.
The Live & Learn mp3 is 1.7MB, so that I'll be able to email to whoever wants it. Mysterious Ways is 3.7MB, so that'll have to go via AIM or some other method.
