Feb. 19th, 2004 06:17 amNow is when it gets hard to wait.
To see my FL talking & squealing in whispers about Schizophrenic... It makes me want to go out and download the album and listen to it...
But, I'm *not* going to. From all the interviews & such I've seen & heard with JC recently, he's made his feelings pretty clear, at least to me, on the subject of leaked songs/albums and such. I'm going to honor & respect those feelings by waiting to listen to his album until I have the entire thing in my hands for my own, purchased from the store.
I put away my CDR that was full of JC's album clips. I haven't listened to it since Tuesday. If I need to, I'll snap the CD in half just to guarantee that I won't tempt myself to listen.
When I listen to JC's CD for the first time, I don't want it to be after guiltily hunting down clips and then playing them on the tiny, crappy speakers I have on my computer. I want my first full listen to be as he wants me to hear it, the full & complete album, on my good surround sound speakers, with the album cover & liner notes in hand.
I'm ambivalent however, about the lack of lyrics in the cd booklet. JC has said in an interview that he doesn't want interpretation and experience of the song to be influenced by what he's determined the words are, he wants people free to interpret and take away from the song what they will on their own.
I don't quite know yet if I'm going to want to go out hunting lyrics for his songs after I get and listen to the album. I suppose I'll figure that decision out when I get there.
I am quite determined however, not to listen to anything from Schizophrenic (unless it's Some Girls on the radio) until after I purchase his album and have it in my hands for my very own.
As long as the only references I see on my FL are vague ones and no "click here to download the songs from JC's new album Schizophrenic, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Date: 2004-02-19 06:37 am (UTC)I'm so determined to not listen to anything from Schizophrenic (unless Some Girls gets played on the radio), that if I start to cave and want to listen to my CDR of clips, I have *every* intention of snapping the cd in two so I'll be physicaly unable to listen to it!
