rosebeeI think I've lost my daily lunchtime walking partner. :( She might still join me once or twice a week though.
She said she was a bit jealous/inspired by me going skating & planning to do roller derby. She says the only time she has to do something (like go to the gym) is during her lunch hour.
She refuses to do things in the evening after work. Even though her husband goes out in the evenings at least twice a week for soccer, and leaves her home with their 2 children... for some reason I will NEVER comprehend she can't/won't do the same.
Because she's so extremely reluctant to leave her children at home with her husband (also the kids' father), she's never available to do anything on the weekends.
Or the event/activity has to be SOOO short, that she leaves the house after the kids are asleep for their nap, and gets home before they wake up.
I miss her company on my walks, and I miss visiting with her.
Hopefully she'll still be able to join me on walks some times. Maybe I can talk her into leaving the kids at home with their dad and she & I can do brunch or something.
I guess I'm so independent (& childfree), that it's almost incomprehensible to me why a parent feels they are completely unable to leave their children with their spouse (especially when said spouse is the other parent)!! Granted her kids are 4 years old and 18 months, but still!
For other parents on my list/circle: Were you ever so reluctant to leave your kids at home with their other parent to do adult things with friends?
