Scratching Post options...
Aug. 20th, 2009 07:34 amOur new cat Mort isn't really fond of any of the scratching posts we have. We have two carpet-covered cat trees in the apartment, and one of them has a cardboard insert. None of those he likes. We also have two stand alone scratching posts that he's basically ignored.
He much prefers scratching on the trim around our doors - or on the window screens. :(
We bought a 2x4 and propped it up to see if he'd go for that, but no dice.
He's a pretty big cat - 15 pounds, but not overweight I don't think. This picture is from when he was 11 pounds when we first adopted him as a stray, but it'll give you an idea of his frame size.

I've tried cat putting catnip on our current scraching posts, and he'll go sniff but not scratch.
So if any of you are cat people and have ideas, I'd love to hear them!! :D
