It's been a really long crazy week. I'm very glad to have made it to Friday. :D
Fun facts I learned this week: my knee has been hurting because I'm getting older & my muscles are getting weaker. I went to an orthopedist at the suggestion of my podiatrist when she said my knee pain was not being caused by the new orthotics and she thought that something else was going on.
The orthopedist was very thorough, and very good. He determined that my right hip (and likely my left) has no internal rotation like its supposed to. This means I tend to walk/stand with my toes pointing out. He also dermined that I'm *slightly* knock-kneed, meaning my knees don't line up perfectly with my hips & ankles, my knees are slightly inward towards my middle by comparison. And finally the piece I already knew which is that I'm flat-footed. All three of these things combine together to put extra strain on my knee, and make my kneecap not glide evenly over my knee... it tends to go towards the outside. So because my muscles are weaker, they aren't strong enough to keep the kneecap in alignment, and thusly my knee hurts.
He said it was Chrondomalacia Patella, and the best treatment was good orthotics to fix alignment problems (which I'm already doing), and physical therapy to learn exercises that will strengthen my muscles and help pull the kneecap into alignment.
And now... the fun stuff!! I bought a *massive* amount of fabric at PatternReview Weekend in Portland. A total of 38.6 yards!! I got two wools, two silks, a nice soft 21-wale corduroy, denim, a shirt-weight stretch cotton, a stretch cotton print, another cotton print, and a rayon lining fabric.
I overheard the boss talking with his assistant yesterday... and I think he might be closing the office early this afternoon!! It'd be fun to have part of the afternoon off!! :D

- 5.5 yards of 100% wool in a light yellow/gray houndstooth pattern (it was labeled as a "wool sport coating")
- 4.5 yards of 100% wool suiting in a gray heather (it matches the gray in the other wool, and both are nice and soft and lightweight. NO clue what kind of wool they are, but the solid gray is might be a gabardine, and houndstooth is a "broken twill weave" according to fabrics.net found via google).
- 3.5 yards of 100% cotton corduroy, 21-wale (babywale) in a brown and white houndstooth pattern
- 3.5 yards of a cotton/lycra jersrey, 10.5-11oz weight, in a gorgeous cranberry red color
- 2.75 yards of Pimatex stretch cotton 96% cotton/4% stretch yarn in a wonderful aqua blue color
- 2.5 yards of 100% cotton Indigo Denim
- 5 yards of 100% rayon Bemberg Ambiance lining in a gray color - to line one of the wool fabrics I bought
- 3.3 yards of a 100% cotton print
- 1.75 yards of a 100% silk charmeuse, in a beautiful teal color - this will become a sleeveless shell, I just have to find the perfect pattern to use.
- 4 yards of a 100% silk charmeuse, in a gray color - this will become more lining for the wool I bought
- 2.3 yards of a wonderfully bright stretch cotton print
