New shoes! :D
Jan. 18th, 2009 06:11 pmBrown flats (mary jane style):
Brown Un.Poem shoes from the Unstructured by Clarks line. This only came in a D width, but it's all leather upper, so if it ends up being too tight after the orthotic is made, I can have it stretched.
Black flats (also mary jane style):
Black Freya shoes from Aravon (which is evidently made by New Balance, which is why it came in a nice EE super-wide width for my poor special-needs feet). :)
Black shoes with heel (loafers):
These also happily came in a nice EE width.
Until I went shopping today and got measured, I had no idea I was a EE width. I just thought I was a plain ol' wide width.
But the shoes are all very nice, and I'm very pleased. I do someday need to go buy a pair of black pumps, but not anytime soon. Like the next time I have to play dress up and go to an interview. And since I a) adore my job and b) am adored by my bosses and c) am in a union... I'm not in any danger of needing to go to job interviews anytime soon. And of course I still have those brown pumps by Kumfs that are a real true pump, and not a loafer. Granted they have a strap across the instep, but they're still very cute shoes and I bet I could easily wear them with a nice tan/navy/? suit to an interview.
I also went out and bought dress socks. I can't stand socks that bunch up down around my ankles so I bought 6 pairs of knee socks. :) Tan, grey, 2 browns, and 2 blacks. I also bought 2 pairs of tights. Now that I have real 'normal' shoes I can wear skirts & dresses and not feel self-conscious for wearing them with my ugly clunky Birkenstocks. :)
And now I get to go do more laundry, catch up with the checkbook (aka Quicken), and think about what to do for dinner.
This is where I dance madly with joy for having tomorrow off work. I kind of wish I had Tuesday off, but MrB & I have the HTPC set to record the Inauguration stuff off of the CNNHD channel. We've ordered a brand new TV, and I can't wait for it to get here so I can see what an HD LCD TV looks like :D We bought a 46" Samsung, their 650 model. I still need to go finish a couple PS2 games, so we can start looking for a Wii and a Wii Fit. At the rate of my game playing, and the Wii availability, I'm thinking I might actually get my hands on one this summer... that'd be a nice birthday present. Oh crap! That reminds me! I need to order MrB's birthday gift!
Wow, I was really talkative/rambly today!
