darn knee!
Feb. 12th, 2007 05:36 pmSo it's been 5 weeks since I sprained my knee, and while it's doing MUCH better, it still hurts when I do certain things (obviously I try not to do those). My physical therapist thinks that I also injured my meniscus in addition to spraining the ligament on the inside of my left knee.
And in proof that everything is all connected, by spraining my knee I've caused my hip to start hurting because my knee now likes to bend in sideways, which pulls on my hamstring, which is tight at my hip and makes my hip hurt.
I also discovered that the reason my knees make such awful grinding/clicking/creaking sounds is because my kneecap doesn't straight up and down in the groove it's supposed to... and this is due to many reasons: my flat feet, my tight hamstring, my weak inner thigh muscles, and likely something else. My kneecaps on both knees aren't straight, they both are off kilter (they tilt towards the outside). So she's having me do a combination of stretches for the outside muscles and strengthening exercises for the inside ones.
If my knees are this achy & creaky now, I shudder to think what they'll be like when I'm 40 or 45. Hopefully this physical therapist will do wonders and help me get my knees in proper working order so they'll last me a long time.
In other news I'm still eagerly awaiting a picture of our soon-to-be cat to share with everyone. :)
