All I want to do is rent a trailer!

It shouldn't be this difficult!

First I have to call the general # to tell U-Haul what days I want to rent the trailer, where I want to pick it up & drop it off.

Then they give me a reservation # and tell me that someone from the regional office will call me to schedule the exact time of my pick-up...
Never mind the fact that I told them I *need* to pick up the trailer in the morning as we only have that one day to pack everything up.

But see, it gets even better.
They call me to schedule the exact time, but they don't do so until the *day* before, by 5pm they said.
We're going to be traveling that day. And waiting until the day before, what kind of chances do you think there'll be that we'll actually get a pick-up time that we need?

I did get the reservation guy to give me the direct # of the regional office so I could call them myself to schedule the exact pick-up time.
The lady who answered that number was very nice! She was able to confirm for me that the location we want to pick the trailer up at has lots of the size we want. She gave that location's computers my reservation info and gave me their number so I can call them directly to schedule the exact time we want to pick up the trailer a week from tomorrow.

So now I'm waiting like the nice lady told me to so the location's computers have time to log on & process my reservation info.

December's gonna be a busy month!
I'll be *very* glad when I get this little detail taken care of. One more thing I'll be able to cross of my list! :)

ETA: Finally!! Got a hold of the exact pickup location & got a reservation for 9:30am (I told her sometime between 9:30 & 10 & she put me down for 9:30).
<---- Is very relieved!

a word to the wide with u-haul... if your reservation thing is for 9:30 - you need to be there AT 9:30 - if not earlier. twice we've reserved uhauls and were given a pick up time - once we were there 5 minutes late (actually, we were on time, the line was just huge) and the other we were at the counter a little early even - and both times they said they didnt have our truck and that we could get a bigger/smaller one but it'd be about an hour.

now two other times everything went well - we got there an hour early - but we got what we reserved.

so yeah - be early or on time...

Wow!

That's insane!!

I don't think the place even opens until 9, so at least we don't have to worry about having to be too early.

Thanks for the advice!! :)
