Overall, the weekend was good.

It started with the realization that HTB & I haven't gotten out in the car & gone up to the woods/mountains/etc to hike around & play in a while. So HTB found a cool looking waterfall up in an area we hadn't yet explored much (only an hour so from town, too). We got there and were reminded that it was still winter and that the trail to the waterfalls was not a hiking trail, but a cross-country skiing trail. Um. Oops. We also hadn't purchased a Sno-Park pass so we were not allowed to park at the park & walk around (which would normally be just a $5 pay at the park kind of a deal). And while we both really wanted to magically produce 2 sets of cross-country skiing equipment along with said sno-park pass, such was beyond our capabilities.

So slightly bummed we decided to park at one of the open grassy/dirt/gravel areas we saw on the side of the highway and go hike around by the river for a while. We parked at the first place and saw a couple cars on the side of the road maybe 30 feet up from where the parking area was. We didn't think anything of it at the time...
We pulled in to the parking area just as a group of people were piling into their car & leaving. HTB & I had a bit of a discussion once we saw the towels & sandals worn by the people entering the car, the guys had swim trunks on, the girls just had towels around their waists & t-shirts on. HTB suggested that perhaps there was an unmarked hot spring nearby. We found a trail that seemed to lead down to the river.
And sure enough, it did. It also lead to a hot spring. The first thing I noticed was the mini-cooler (the kind construction guys take their lunch in), a folded up shirt & some other clothing. I looked, but didn't see anyone in the hot spring. Then I saw a guy walking down the trail towards us & the hot springs. Then my brain registered the fact that the gentleman was not wearing a pink/peach colored jumpsuit, but that this hot spring was a clothing optional hot spring and he had elected not to wear clothing. At that same time I was registering this fact HTB said quietly to "turn around".
There are some things I just do NOT need to see. And a naked middle-aged man is one of them! Thank goodness all I saw was backside!

We hightailed it back to the car and found a different hot-spring-free area to hike around next to the river.

It was absolutely hilarious!!
HTB & I were joking about it all day long!! :)

And the funniest part is that when HTB suggested that perhaps there was an unmarked hot spring nearby (after seeing the people with towels & swim trunks leaving) he said that it probably wasn't a 'clothing optional' hot spring since it was so close to town & civilization! I think he jinxed us!

I wasn't really traumatized (though I probably would've been if I'd seen any more of that guy than just his bare-assed backside)!
