SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!
May. 21st, 2005 05:23 pmI went on a bike ride this morning with my mom. It was lots of fun, but we both discovered that our bike-riding muscles are woefully out of shape. It's been so long since I've ridden my bike (I'm talking roughly 8 to 10 years), I've completely forgotten what good exercise bike riding is. I was also reminded that my bike is the same cheap-ass Huffy bike my folks bought for me *15 years ago* so I could get a paper route. It's WAY past time for a new bike. So I decided a new bike would be a wonderful birthday gift.
Well, I've found my exact birthday present!!!! I have a birthday coming up in 2 months, and I'm going to have all my relatives go together to get me the following bike. The really hard part is going to be having to wait so darn long to actually get the new bike. Mom and I are going to get together and ride our bikes each Saturday morning that my dad has to work and that my hubby-to-be isn't in town.
I found it today when I was out window shopping with my mom. It's SOOOOO comfortable! I'm just head over heels in love with it! :D

Bike details here!
It looks a little different than what I'm used to seeing, but it's so easy to step over and get on. Little levers shift gears step by step, no more of this fiddling to get the shifter to just the right spot that will make the gears change.
::bounces::
Did I mention how comfortable & non-rattly it is? And how easy to shift & how it fits me just perfectly?!
My city has a map of all the bike paths & bike lanes in town. I'm going to figure out where to get one and then try and see what errands around down I'll eventually be able to do via bike. I swear I don't think my mom & i rode more than 2 or 3 miles, but man was it a workout. Once I can ride for longer distances, I'll be able to make small runs to the grocery store or other places. When the weather's nice. On those occasionaly sunny days in the late fall, winter & early spring, bike riding will also be a good thing to do. :D

Date: 2005-05-22 03:16 pm (UTC)I think I'll call the bike store today and ask them about the whole concept of fenders. I know that the bike has reflectors on it, even though the picture above doesn't show any, so hopefully fenders won't be an issue.
I also want to ask about getting a water bottle holder installed & a bike rack with folding baskets put on the rear.
I have visions of toodling around town on my bike doing little errands and things. :)
