not too bad for a Monday...
Nov. 7th, 2005 12:11 pmOf course in the first hour the fire alarms went off. Not once, but twice. The 2nd time it happened right as we were all filing back into the building. Luckily it shut off after only a minute or so and we didn't have to go all the way back outside, only partially.
A nice weekend was had. Still a bit of a busy weekend, but not NEARLY as busy as last weekend.
Nevertheless, lots of things that were put on a list & wanted to get done didn't. Nothing urgent though, just the typical around-the-house chores that need to happen.
Spent a fair amount of time helping my grandma move furniture around. She has convinced herself that the reason she's sick is because of the chemical smells from the new furniture she has (& lingering smells from when she got garage cement cleaner fumes pumped all throughout her condo). So some of the furniture she's giving away, and some she's letting de-gas in the garage. She gave me & HTB a new dresser (which HTB will use) that's VERY nice. It's stained a very pretty cherry wood color. It fits nicely in our bedroom, and matches my antique dresser beautifully. :)
Maybe next weekend (if I'm in town). HTB is still in town! :D If he goes back to his town later this week (for a job offer or an interview or something), then I'll go visit him this weekend. But if we're in town then perhaps things like repotting plants, and putting this yellow-sticky-rug tape down on the patio (to close up the gaps where birdseed is able to fall down to the patio beneath me) will happen then.
HTB wants to attempt & perfect an apple pie recipe sometime before Thanksgiving. He tried one a few months ago, but the apples were *really* watery and cooked down to just nothing when the pie baked (there were inches of air underneath the pie crust).
Any suggestions as to specific type of apple to be used or a favorite recipe to try?
