Eventually I'll remember to update more frequently... at least come spring once I'm not chained to my lightbox for so long each morning.

In summary:

Life w/HTB living here (but not officially 'moved in' yet) is busier than when we had the LDR going on and just talked on the phone each evening. It's VERY nice & VERY good!! But busier though, and that's taken a bit of an adjustment.

Heard about the Sound Of Music 40th anniversary 2-disc DVD being released. Want to go home & check to see if I own this on dvd yet. If not I want this. I LOVE this movie! It'd be so fun to have it on DVD. :)

The battle of us v the local squirrel has begun. Said squirrel has figured out how to knock the bird feeder off of the nail that holds it up. Granted this nail is on the *inside* of the support beam for the deck above us. The end of the feeder hangs about 2-3 feet off the top of our deck railing. The squirrel's knocked it off 4 or 5 times now. Once it's landed on my own deck. The rest of the time it's somehow got thrown over the deck railing to land on the grass below me. We're on the 2nd story.
We got a heavy plastic cone that's meant to be attached to the bottom of bird feeders. There're small holes at the bottom to allow water to drain out. We filled it with screen door mesh & gravel & another layer of screen door mesh (held down with a bit more gravel). This we hope will make it too heavy for the squirrel to knock off (it's held to the bottom of the feeder with an s-hook), and will keep it from swaying too much in the wind.
The birds are a bit scared still by this big weird new thing attached to their feeder, but they're slowly getting used to it. We put it up yesterday afternoon, and within a few hours some of the chickadees and one of the house finches were feeding from it again. By this morning, the birds were skittish but we had half a dozen on the feeder and several birds had figured out they could land on the green cone (& on the heavy plastic mesh that covers the top of the cone & keeps birds & squirrels from getting inside) to hang out & wait for a spot on the feeder to open up.

We did manage to get some laundry done, and the deck got vacuumed.
We also got a VERY nice hike in up a local mini-mountain (Spencer's Butte, 3 miles round trip).
It was on Friday (which I got off due it being a holiday), and so the mountain was very sparsely populated. We got to the top in time to hang out and relax & enjoy the scenery for a little bit, then we saw the storm coming in and decided it would be a good time to start the hike down. We made it down with less than half an hour to spare before the raindrops started up.
I wanted to get the spaces between the 2x4's sealed up (with a nice sticky strips that has a plastic backing on one side... original purpose is to peel the plastic off and use the double-sided sticky stuff to hold rugs in place on your floor). Maybe we'll get a chance to do that this weekend.

I *really* want to try and get things cleaned up as much as possible before a week from tomorrow (YIKES!!) when my future mother-in-law is arriving in town for Thanksgiving.
How much we'll be able to get cleaned up since we're in this weird transition period of half moved in, but not quite enough stuff here yet to justify a storage unit...

Other weird unexpected things requiring adjustment & transition have cropped up (in regards to HTB unofficially living here but not moved in)... things I wouldn't have thought would need to change (like shopping, last-minute diversions on the way home, planning dinners... etc).

I got pictures developed recently. They include portions of my mom's recently denuded backyard (wherein she took out a big giant plant & is letting HTB & I plan out the new design with the idea we can use that area for our wedding next summer). And also pictures of me trying on various wedding dresses. Including the one I eventually decided upon. I want to scan the pictures in, blur out my face (I'm neurotic when it comes to my privacy), and post them in a tightly locked filter for any who want to see...
So if you want to see & be on the filter list, please comment & let me know.
