Nov. 26th, 2004 08:42 amThanksgiving was different. Having it somewhere else with people you've never had thanksgiving with before will do that. ;)
When I have Thanksgiving dinner with my family, even if it's tacos or quiche or something non-turkey, we always load up our plates, then go around the table to say what we're thankful for in this past year.
They didn't do that at the place I had Thanksgiving yesterday. They didn't even wait for everybody to get food on their plate and sit down at the table before they started eating. It's always interesting how different people do Thanksgiving. It was nice not having to wait! I wish my stepmom & her family (who I had multiple thanksgivings with as a child) had used that rule!
So, my list of things I am thankful for this year:
-Being settled into my new apartment (this time last year I had been here about 3 weeks)
-i'm finally getting used to how things are done at my job, and the coworkers/bosses are now comfortable & familiar people, rather than nice strangers
-not-terribly awful performance reviews at work, and in fact my last one said I'd made progress! :)
-being relatively healthy this past year - no major colds or illnesses, all known conditions were kept under good control, nothing new was diagnosed
-having a roof over my head and enough food in the cupboards
-For LJ - it's a wonderful place to commisserate, vent, share, laugh, converse, squeal in joy, and I'm very happy and thankful to be a part of it
-I am very thankful for my good college friend R for introducing me to her fiancee's brother M2
-I am most thankful for m2, he is the love of my life, and I can't say enough about how glad & happy & thankful I am that he's been a part of my life (since February/March) and will continue to be a part of my life for the rest of our lives (and I can't wait to make that last bit official and get engaged in April)!
