YAY!

Today's my last day of prednisone!

I have Derby practice tonight, and I'm still going to go even if I have to take it easy.

Saturday morning at my regular practice we actually get to do sample Tier 1 Assessments! The actual assessments are three weeks away, so I'm looking forward to being able to do a run-though and see where I need to focus on. I know my sprinting & endurance needs work.

Saturday afternoon I'm signed up for a 2-hour Derby Boot Camp with Portland's all-star travel team. I'm taking the beginner session, it's going to focus on Jamming, and I'm really looking forward to it. I just wish my lungs were back to normal. :( I know I'll still learn a lot and get a lot out of it though.

Where's the damn off switch?!

As I suspected, one of my biggest challenges in Derby will be dealing with the stubborn impatient perfectionist who lives just beneath the surface of yours truly.

I need to learn how to turn it off, concentrate on the things I'm learning & improving on, and not the things I can't do need more work on.

I need to remember to relax & have fun at practice, and not get tense. I'll pass the various tiers when my mind & body are ready and getting stressed & tense about it isn't going to help (it will actually in fact harm).

Today, I tried hip assists for the first time! I also did the best I've ever done keeping up in a pace line! :)

And now it's time for ice cream. :)
