Dumbass attack...
Apr. 7th, 2009 07:04 amI have two spreadsheets both with lots of formulas linking back and forth between the two files.
The person who gives me my input data changed how she presented stuff - in a way that makes sense for her & her needs, but results in me needing to make changes in my spreadsheets to accomodate those changes.
Yesterday I started making those changes in one spreadsheet. The dumbass attack happened when I forgot to have *both* spreadsheets open in the same instance of Excel, so that when I deleted a line or renamed a tab in one spreadsheet, the formulas in the second would automatically change. I neglected to do this. So when I deleted a line (or two) and renamed a tab, the formulas in the second spreadsheet broke.
There's a lot of formulas I got to go back and manually fix yesterday.
To make it even MORE fun, these spreadsheets are for reports that are due at 1pm today... and I thought I'd gotten finished creating a new worksheet created in one of the spreadsheets... but of course once I looked at the formulas, I realized I'd only copy & pasted an existing worksheet & had only gotten around to updating about half of the formulas.
I ended up staying at work until 6pm last night (something I rarely do), just so I could have time to fix my formulas. It's still not done, but I at least have until 1pm to finish it!
I think I'm going to shower quickly & get to work as early as possible!
