More Foot Dr woes...
Feb. 19th, 2009 11:57 amI'm currently on my second Foot Dr (after I fired the first one in October for being an incompetent quack). However, I'm now about to fire this second one too! He's not incompetent though. He just has the world's worst bedside manner, knows only one way to make orthotics, and expects me to be able to tell him what the specific problem is with the orthotics that's causing them to make my heels slip.
So I have an appointment in two weeks with a third podiatrist (DrL). She has a great website with staff info & patient forms available. Said website is not an indication of her competence, but I think it speaks well for her that she emphasizes her willingness to answer patient questions (she even has her email address up on the website!). She does the regular (and recommended) plaster casting (Dr#1 did the frowned-upon foam box method), and she sends the orthotics to a specialty laboratory that does nothing but make orthotics. I think this will be better as they'll have multiple options and the latest technology/methods/materials.
Maybe this new Dr will actually take an x-ray to find out how bad my toes are, and maybe I can get her to tell me exactly what the official diagnosis is and what the prognosis/treatment options are.
I was supposed to get my re-re-re-re-adjusted dress shoe orthotics from Dr#2 today. I showed up at 10:55 for my 11am appointment, only to be greeted with a look of confusion by the receptionist/assistant. He said he called my house and left a message that the orthotics weren't ready yet, and could I pick them up tomorrow instead. They have my cell phone #. I gave it to them. I explained to the receptionist that I hadn't been home since I left for work at 7:40 this morning. So back I go tomorrow. But I feel much better about it now knowing I have a backup plan in place for when the orthotics once again fail to work.
In non-frustrating-Dr news... my NKOTB boys are on TV today and tomorrow!! :D Regis & Kelly this morning, and the Today Show tomorrow morning!!
