I'm SO ready for another weekend...
Oct. 15th, 2007 07:04 amMy weekend was very good, but very busy. Saturday I had my first Learn to Sew Workshop at a local sewing & vacuum store. It went SO well, and I learned tons, and had lots of fun. I even successfully made a half-apron with a pocket. If you look closely you'll see wavy stitching instead of straight stitching, and I didn't line up the two sides of the waistband quite right (I rushed through it so I could finish before the teacher had to leave at 3 - she volunteered to stay late, the class offically ended at 2pm).
But I made it and I learned things and had fun! :D
( See? )
The next class is in 2 weeks and is all about zippers, buttonholes, cording, and related things.
After that class I think I'm going to attempt to make slipcovers for the side cushions on our couch. The third class is the 2nd Saturday in November, and it's about how to use, cut fabric for, and work with a pattern. I'm *really* looking forward to that one.
The way I see it, this can easily become a very fun hobby for me. It's a creative outlet, but requires a bit of anal precision at the same time. And I am SOOO very tired of not having clothes fit me right. I can easily learn how to hem up sleeves or pant legs. What I have dreams/hopes of learning is how to make clothes that are custom-made to fit me exactly right in all the right places. :)
